Ten minutes ago I was in my room folding towels listening to my three girls as they attempted to fall asleep. Willa did the occasional sing-songy talk to herself. I heard giggles and whispers of Christmas from Addie & Etta. Pretty sweet!
Addie & Etta decided they wanted to do a "slumber party" so they are in sleeping bags on Addie's bedroom floor. Before that they did (microwave cooked) smores in front of the (electric) fire. It was the first time we turned on the fireplace this season and I am enjoying its cozy heat. I have the feeling it will be making me very sleepy soon.
Speaking of sleep, Willa still sleeps a ton. If she starts to act fussy one of the first things Matt & I know to do is look at the clock. If she has been awake about an hour, chances are she is getting sleepy. So we set her in her bed with her little blankey lovey, and she will often be asleep within 5-10 minutes with very little fuss. This is true both during the day for naps and at night. There are still times when it takes more work on our part or she is loudly fussy, but over all she does an amazing job of putting herself to sleep. She also has done some amazing night-time sleeping. I knock on wood whenever I say that, because I know things can change fast with the sleep of infants. Last night I was up with her from 11-12 then from 1-2:30. But that is much less common. There has been more than one night where she slept from 9:30-6. Amazing! Especially with how much sleep trouble we had with Etta. I would love for her to get on some sort of nap schedule so her day-time sleep was a bit more predictable. And it feels like she should be awake longer stretches. But she is happy, she is growing, and she sleeps well at night so I know better than to complain :)
