Fathers Day

Instead of buying Matt a tie, Addie made him a bow-tie :)

We went to church in the morning then spent the rest of Fathers Day down in Kent.
But Matt & I actually left the girl there & came home without them!
(Being in our own house without the girls was weird!)

The next morning we headed North to catch the ferry to Orcas Island.
We spent 2 nights there as a little "babymoon" if you will!
We went on a whale-watching tour (which we had never done before).
We got numerous viewing opportunities of the whales.
But it is not like SeaWorld or something where they are doing full jumps out of the water
or are right up against the glass.
But we used a Living Social deal and the tour guide was really knowledgeable and friendly
and the boat was comfortable with a covered area and outside decks.
So I liked the experience.

We took a hike one morning.
It was a nice hike.
My knees were not happy with me at times and I was pretty slow getting up some smallish hills
thanks to decreased lung capacity due to pregnancy.
But I was glad I did it.
One weird thing on the hike was the enormous amount of caterpillars we encountered.
It was bizarre. I do not know how many hundreds of fuzzy orange caterpillars there were.
They coated the trail. It got me anxious because I was looking down and trying so hard not to step on the little guys but  they were impossible to avoid. There were tons of them in this certain wooded patch.
We talked about how the girls would have loved them and
would have wanted to collect them or something.

We stayed at Rosario Resort.
We toured the main building which is really neat in all its wood detail and how well it is made.
There was also a free piano and organ concert there which was narrated and
a slideshow shown of old pictures of the island, the property and Seattle so that was pretty cool.
The rest of our time was spent relaxing and reading, eating yummy food, etc.
(But we failed to take pictures to document this time-away.)

Meanwhile the girls had a great time staying with Matt's folks.
So good times were had by all :)
